The new year has kicked off with a bang and lots of sewing. For the first month of January I’ve already sewn 5 items and it’s been an awesome experience so far.
Week 1
In the first week of January I finished sewing up the last pillows for our new couches on the patio. Read the blogpost about those here. I still need to finish the covers for the seats, but I haven’t had time yet.
Week 2
In the second week our challenge for the 52 weeks of sewing was to make something from the last fabric we purchased. I doubled up and incorporated the 2018rtwfast by making this top for myself.
Week 3
For week three I decided to start my path to make well fitting jeans. They turned out to fit pretty well and have been worn a lot. I plan on sewing at least 2 more pairs before winter hits here in South Africa. Read all about my jean making experience in this post.
Also in week three, we had a birthday party to attend. The birthday girl already had a pair of my “Paris nighties” but had grown out of them. She was delighted with her new set of pajamas.
Week 4
The week four of 52 challenge was to make something for a boy. Well I have two. I’ve been hoarding a piece of cotton lycra with the cutest camping pictures and a grow with me romper pattern. When I make this again, I definitely need to add an easier way for access during nappy changes. But other than that I think it turned out pretty well.
I almost can’t believe I finished 2 items for myself AND I have not been tempted to buy anything 🙂
Week 5 / February sewing
I’ve already completed 2 items for the week 5 challenge. But it is for a pattern test, so I will only blog about that after the new pattern has been released.
